Short Biography

I was born in East Los Angeles, California. My uncle was very good at lettering, so the movie studios hired him to do the lettering for different movies. I was fascinated by his ability to do this free hand. So he encouraged me to watch how the big billboards were painted by the artists in Los Angeles. I watched these artists paint everything
from new cars to high fashion, that was my first art class. Then I studied engineering, geology and architecture. So I enrolled in Art Center Design school in Los Angeles, and graduated with honors.

After a short career as a product and architectural designer, I hung up my t-square and triangle. I worked for General Motors for one day and realized I was not able to do my art, I felt like I was in the army again. Then I moved to Laguna Beach to start my career as an artist. I opened a gallery, started teaching in workshops, entered art shows, had art shows out of my home, and participated in many art shows throughout the year and did commissions for art patrons throughout southern California. The chamber of commerce in Laguna Beach needed a design for the city to represent Laguna Beach. A contest was opened for the artists that lived in Laguna. My art design was chosen by the Chamber of Commerce to represent Laguna Beach.

The large signs were posted throughout Laguna I was the First Live Artist that was chosen by the Pageant of Masters to do a painting that was recreated on stage. “The life style of getting up in the morning and doing what you love to do does not happen by waiting for it. It does not take a genius, it takes heart, perseverance and the fear of having to do something else”
